Ifs Vs Solid Axle Towing
Both IFS and solid front axles have tie rods, drag link for solid axles and center link for IFS's. Components wear in both. Hitting a bump or pot hole or obstacle causes the steering to be thrown off resulting in vibrations and oscillations throughout the steering system up to the steering wheel. For those who do not know yet, SFA stands for Solid Front Axle and IFS stands for Independant Front Suspension. Only Dead Fish Go With The Flow! 1999 Hilux 2.7i 4x4 Raider DC with 3.4 Prado V6.

Whether it’s suspension, axle or steering related—or a combination of all three—if your IFS has a problem, you can rest assured that there’s a fix for it. The following pages showcase the parts that allow the factory-based AAM 9.25 IFS system to survive the extreme abuses of sled pulling. G-Wagen dropped it's solid axle on the 2019 refresh. You're basically down to HD trucks and Jeep JT/JL/JLU in the US. Jeep worked some devil magic on the JLU and JT handling. Blew me away as a former Jeep tech (early 2000's TJ era) because the handling does not at all feel like a live axle anymore.

What's Better Ifs Or Solid Axle
I would think they could have AWD and allow all the differentials to be locked/normal electronically, no?(which I would think would then give 4WD equivalent to the PT 4wd when engaged?)
Also, why are solid axles better than independent suspensions for offroad? Better articulation, or????
